Welcome to Yizhou Fossil & Geology Park
In 2004, a farmer from Yi Xian County near Jinzhou, in Liaoning, discovered by accident the remains of a beautifully preserved dinosaur, later identified as Jinzhousaurus. The local county and the Liaoning Province were looking for a partnership and investor to open the site and turn it into an Internationally aclaimed museum.

A German veterinarian, Dr. Burkhard Pohl, who’s passion about dinosaur is crossing way beyond the European borders, and well known from the International scientific community (see Wyoming Dinosaur Center & Dig Site) heard about the news and came to Liaoning within weeks after the discovery. He and his team created the first joint venture company of its kind in China, with a 51% stake for the German side in the newly created Company. The Sino-German Yizhou Fossil & Geology Park was born.

Its collection of fossils and dinosaurs from around the world and from China is among the most impressive. Its rarest pieces ranges from the oldest mammals in the world, to the largest turtle ever found the giant 4,5 m Archelon, the only one specimen in China), as well as several different spieces of flying reptiles.

Local tourism not only includes our museum and its fossil dig site, but also a 2,200 years old village with a 1,200 years old Buddhist temple, river rafting and horseback riding in the valley. It is located a conv4 hours drive North of Beijing.
